what the hell is barkkmag?

first off—thanks for being here. truly.

barkkmag is kind of like a magazine. kind of not. it’s a passion project that grew out of a love for freeskiing, the mountains, and the culture that once felt wild, welcoming, and full of possibility.

i grew up skiing in colorado, watching freeskiing shift from a scrappy playground of friends and ideas into something more corporate, more guarded, and sadly, less fun. big money moved in, a lot of heart moved out.

one of my biggest inspirations was saga outerwear. loud, legendary, a cultural staple. just like myself, they were based out of boulder, colorado. they brought underground street skiing into the spotlight—and then, in 2021, they quietly disappeared. just like that, a piece of the culture was gone.

after graduating with a design degree in 2023, and fumbling through a year of trying to figure things out, it finally clicked. with the help of my friends-turned-partners, barkkmag became a way to spend our free time doing something that actually means something to us—and sharing it with the people who still care.

we’re not here to save skiing. we're not here to get rich quick off of cheap products and flashy marketing. we’re just here because we love it.
